The first thing to know about August is, never call him Augustus. He hates it and will not be your friend if you call him it. He prefers August, but providing he knows you well or he has a bit of a fancy for you, Augie works, too.
The next thing to know is that August is and will forever be a man of math and science. As a child, he was a fan of weird science, how things - especially living creatures - worked. He participated in every science fair he could, excelled in his classes, was a smart dinkem when he wasn't being stupid and surfing dangerous waves with his brothers.
He was sent to Rose Point late in his high school career, when his family made the big move from South Australia to the states, and that's when he came across Professor Anders. A kooky old man with a passion for the weird and wonderful. He's been working with him for so much longer than the school has been paying him for, but he's grown to understand the man's ticks, the things that make him wacky and the things that make him snap.
It's been an arduous decade, but August thinks he's got Anders figured out. At least, he's the only person he's got that's still around.
